We can all understand the utility in being informed through the first couple sessions a day, getting the news, checking the weather, staying socially connected, etc. However, how often do we question ourselves after the 5th, 10th, possibly the 15th time? Questioned if we feel better, more fulfilled, happier or more connected?  With those 30 minutes in bed at night before we worry about enough sleep, the 10 minute wait time prior to our appointment, the morning bathroom trip that acts as both a necessary biological function as well as some “ME” time. Do we ever stop to ask ourselves what we are really doing, or better yet, what we are trying to avoid?

If you haven’t guessed, I’m referring to today’s technological advances, you know, possibly just like the smartphone you are reading this on right now.  I’m asking if we know ourselves well enough to know when the diminishing returns of our co-dependent relationships have been met. When does it lose the utility, the value, when does it go from “me” time to “I want to get away from Me Time?”

As this video states, I believe (myself included) an enormous amount of people devote their lives to keeping their minds busy and feel extremely uncomfortable with silence. However, I was fortunate enough to find an environment where all the noise and distractions were easily stripped away. A unique environment that diminishes nearly all sights, sounds, smells, touch and gravity. Floatation therapy “floating” has been the best practice for me to shut it all down, to defrag the mind and press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to reboot “the self”. Watch the video below and decide for yourself if avoidance is primarily what you’ve been seeking. If so, maybe book a float and try some actual ME time instead.
