Artist of the Month – Faris Pirali

“My name is Faris Pirali, I was born and raised in a small town called Khanesor in the Sinjar mountain area of northern Iraq. In 2009 I completed my undergraduate degree in Physics, in 2018 I completed an Associate degree in Computer Information Technology (Web/App Development) and I am currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Cybersecurity. I came to the United States in 2011 as a refugee, since then Lincoln, NE becomes my home town. I started drawing portraits and cartoons as a hobby when I was in high school, and soon became part of my daily life. Now I paint mostly abstracts that reflect my view of random things around us. Also, I paint nature or views that I find interesting. In 2012 I participated in an art exhibit with two others sponsored by the University of Lincoln Nebraska College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the Lux Center for the Arts, also in the 2013 Lincoln Art Festival.”
