Absolutely. Float therapy — also known as REST (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) — has been studied for over 40 years. As a result, there are hundreds of published peer-reviewed studies documenting its effects on stress, anxiety, pain, sleep, and cognitive performance. Furthermore, it's not a wellness trend — it's one of the most well-researched relaxation modalities available.
The water is filtered completely three times between every float. Additionally, it's sanitized with UV light and the extremely high salt concentration makes it inhospitable to bacteria. In fact, the water in our tanks is cleaner than most swimming pools. You will also shower before and after every session, which further ensures cleanliness.
Very little, actually. We provide everything — earplugs, towels, a robe, sandals, ear wash solution, and Vaseline for minor cuts. However, if you have long hair, we recommend bringing a brush. Additionally, if you wear contacts, bring a case in case you prefer to remove them before floating.
We recommend floating without a suit. The sensation of fabric against your skin can be distracting and takes away from the experience. However, you are always welcome to wear a suit if you prefer. Each suite is completely private, so there is no reason to feel uncomfortable.
First, remove your clothes, jewelry, and contacts. Then insert your earplugs — they're easier to place before your shower. After that, shower and shampoo (but not conditioner — save that for after). Finally, rinse thoroughly and dry your face before entering the tank.
Almost certainly. Our tanks comfortably accommodate most body types. Unless you are over 7 feet tall or over 500 pounds, you will fit just fine. The salt content makes the water so buoyant that floating requires absolutely no effort — regardless of your size or weight.
Children as young as 4 have floated successfully. However, our policy is that anyone under 18 requires a parent or guardian signature. Additionally, anyone 12 and under requires a parent present in the room. As an alternative, we also allow children to float with a parent at no additional charge.
Floating is not recommended if you are currently ill, have incontinence, kidney problems, active epilepsy, or open skin wounds. Furthermore, if you have a medical condition or are pregnant, please consult your physician first. Interestingly, many pregnant women find floating to be one of their most relieving experiences — however, medical clearance is always recommended first.
A light meal about 60-90 minutes before your float is ideal. However, avoid large meals and caffeine — both can interfere with your ability to relax fully. On the other hand, floating on an empty stomach can also be distracting, so a light snack is the sweet spot.
Yes — and it's completely safe. The water is only 10 inches deep and the Epsom salt concentration keeps you floating effortlessly regardless of your position. Furthermore, research suggests that one hour of sleep in a float tank may be equivalent to several hours of deep sleep outside one. That said, we recommend staying awake to get the full theta-state experience if possible.
